Living in a Sea of Linens

I stumbled upon a new favorite blog, Nothing is New, by Kelly Rakowski. Hello, Belarusian textiles! You just made my morning. I want to cover my walls with these and sleep in a bed piled high with the extras. They remind me of the Palestinian textiles I studied at school, and grew up with all over my house. One day I hope to own a loom so I can make my own. That will happen on the same day that I finally grow my hair long.

Oh Fringe

While I was in New York, my best friend Kathy gave me the best birthday present ever--a haircut at Fringe Salon. Now, if you ever read Bust magazine, you'll recognize Fringe from their killer ads. I've wanted to get a Fringe cut since I was a wee teen, so the prospect of this cut was a dream come true. When I got there, I met the fabulous Amy Schiappa, owner of Fringe, and she and I chatted about the look I wanted. We were perfectly on the same page, which is such a wonderful feeling when you're talking to someone about to wack at your head with scissors. Normally I don't post photos of myself here, but this is by far my favorite haircut ever.

Funny enough, while we were at Renegade, I met an editor from Time Out New York who really liked the 'do. She and I chatted for a bit, and I ended up with this funny bit of press on their weekly Friday "Street Style" section. Icing on the cake to our Renegade weekend. Maybe I should get back to New York more often?

Renegade Brooklyn, Part 1

All of my luggage is still packed. I am catching up on sleep. I'm still smiling from seeing so many loved ones and meeting new faces. And the pizza. Oh, the pizza. Many more photos to come.

Etsy SHOP LIVE Event today, 7pm EST

We're psyched to be taking part in today's Etsy SHOP LIVE Event, curated by the wonderful Marichelle of Heart Handmade. Etsy is always surprising me with the cool ideas they develop to connect their sellers and buyers. SHOP LIVE is a live 30-minute shopping sale that takes place today starting at 7pm EST. Log in at 7pm and enter the Etsy Virtual Labs. Once in, you'll see this:

You can chat on the left with fellow buyers, and new sale products will come up on the right, 1 product every minute for 30 minutes. You purchase just like a regular etsy purchase, but at Step 4 of your checkout, you'll type in the promo code in the "notes to seller" section. To get the promo code, you have to be at the event! Pretty slick, no?

Our Heirloom Growth chart will be for sale, with 20% off!! We only have a handful in stock, so get 'em while they're hot. We're also excited about the other participants at SHOP LIVE, including some favorites like Mudpuppy, SusyJack*, Fern Animals, and The Small Object.
