Target's Red Hot Shop + Miss Natalie!

We've been sitting on this great news for a while now, and I'm so excited to share it! Miss Natalie is part of July's Red Hot Shop at Target! You can pick up our growth charts there for a limited time. It's been growth chart mania of late, as we gear up for Renegade LA and SF this month as well. Big thanks to my two Bens for production help getting this order out the door.

Paxton Gate’s Curiosities for Kids
LinkOne of our absolute favorite shop's in San Francisco, Paxton Gate, has just opened up a wonderful children's store, aptly named Paxton Gate’s Curiosities for Kids. Located at 766 Valencia St, near 19th in the Mission District.

Like their parent store, the Curiosities For Kids shop has a wide assortment of odd and beautiful objects, like a crocheted dissected frog. Perfect for you science-nerd 9-year old niece (ahem, or me).

Or what about your favorite vegan hipster, who surely wouldn't have a mounted dear head in their living room. Teddy bears are all the rage now. I may need this in my studio.

Paxton Gate’s Curiosities for Kids is also now stocking Miss Natalie! Stop by to check out our handmade masks and heirloom growth charts. I'm sure you won't be able to leave without one odd and beautiful thing.

Forest Finds!
Ok, I've been sitting on this news long enough. I hate keeping secrets from you guys. Miss Natalie has been selected as one of the November Forest Finds on Fawn & Forest! Check out our post and designer bio.

I've been a huge fan of Fawn & Forest for a while, so I was doing cartwheels when they asked to feature us. Thanks to Summer and Chris for their help, and a big thank you to Ben who helped me write up the designer bio. Why is it so difficult to try and capture the spirit of what you do/who you are in 2-3 sentences? I have new respect for my marketing co-workers.

Thriving on chaos
I always thought I was the one sane person in my family who didn't take on twenty projects at a time, but after a phone call with my sister last night, I realized that was a complete fantasy. My sister takes multi-tasking to an art form, but she learned it all from our mother, who has a full time job, runs a major NIH-funded research project, and freelances--you know, just on the side. I've come to the conclusion that I thrive best when I have lots of balls in the air, but then I need short sabbaticals to recharge. Just when you think you're oh so different from your family, BAM! You find yourself growing up and being just like them. I can just see the high school version of myself rolling her eyes.

This weekend is all about the balance, as shown in the photo above of my two side businesses. Our growth charts have been kicking it around the blogs this week--thank you for all the lovely press! It's so exciting to see an idea realized, and watch it grow and spread. We're working through this insane Bay Area heatwave to get more charts made. The Capsule SF fair is fast approaching (next Sunday, May 25th!), so we have lots more to go.

Tonight I'm driving out to the Capay farm to get back to work on wedding preparations for one of my favorite clients, Kristi & Blair. We'll be hauling major river rocks up from the creek to mark paths and garden beds. Since it's going to be 98 tomorrow, I imagine we'll also be jumping in the creek a lot, as well. The photo above shows test prints of their wedding invitation, which was so fun to make. I'm going to post more photos of my client work soon, just another glimpse into my strange mind.

Speaking of, I forgot to mention that Poppytalk did a Miss Natalie Studio Visit last month! Check it out on their April 30th, 2008 post (scroll to the second entry).

Thanks PoppyTalk!
The lovely Jan at PoppyTalk posted about Miss Natalie's Growth Chart today. We're very excited to be featured on her site, as PoppyTalk is one of my favorite blogs to read while sipping my morning tea. PoppyTalk is a huge supporter of Etsy shops and also has a monthly online fair at PoppyTalk Handmade. Miss Natalie has been a seller before (December market), and is looking forward to future markets at the site. Thanks, again, PoppyTalk!

Miss Natalie's Growth Chart
After much work, Miss Natalie's Growth Charts are now available online at our Etsy shop! The growth chart comes in a wooden keepsake box measuring 7.25" x 7.25" x 2.75".

The chart contains a 4' long burlap ribbon, mounted on wooden dowels and hung with a red ribbon. With one simple nail, you can hang your chart 1' (or more) above the floor to start your measurements.

Twenty tags are included (ten in red, ten in manila) with space to mark your child's name, age, and date of measurement. Also included are twenty large safety pins in a muslin bag to secure your child's tag on the burlap ribbon. A dollop of glue at the pin head ensures a steadfast bond.

Miss Natalie's Growth Charts are now available online at our Etsy shop.

Paint under my fingernails
It feels so good to be back in the studio and making, making, making. I love this feeling. Today it is small heart bags for the growth charts.

Miss Growth Chart sneak peek
Our show this weekend at Babes & Babies went really well! Thanks to all our new friends for stopping by--we had a wonderful time meeting you all. We launched our new product, Miss Natalie's Growth Chart, which sold out very quickly! I'm busy working on creating many more of these kits and will post shortly when they are available. You can see the growth charts on the far right of the above photo, and a detail shot below.

We'll be posting photos soon with more details of the kit in action. I'm really excited about these little treasure chests and had a great time designing and crafting them.
